Currently, we offer virtual DBT skills groups, one for adolescents and another for adults. DBT groups are a fantastic way to supplement individual therapy and fast track therapeutic progress by learning skills that can be utilized immediately.
Skills learned in DBT groups help with emotional regulation, increasing tolerance to stress and decreasing unhealthy coping behaviors, learning how to set boundaries in relationships, increasing self respect, and learning how to identify healthy relationships as well as “red flags” in unhealthy relationships. DBT focuses on concrete skills of mindfulness as foundational principles upon which all the other skills are built. Individuals and families who participate fully in the group experience report a decrease in conflict, feelings of depression and anxiety, and an increase in mood and control over undesired behaviors and thoughts.
Interested but want more information? Below are some links to resources that can help increase understanding of DBT and the purpose of the groups. And, of course, feel free to reach out to us if you would like more information specific to your needs.
